“Barack Obama nominated Janet Yellen to replace Ben Bernanke as chairman of the Federal Reserve (FED) in february. Ms Yellen is Mr Bernanke’s deputy and became the out-right favourite for the top job when Larry Summers withdrew his name from consideration.
